Help us get the law right
bribery.fyi is a free, anonymous record of everyday bribery at Indian government offices. We are committed to running it lawfully and to keeping the people who report safe. If you are a lawyer, we would value your help.
Who we are looking for
Indian advocates in technology, media, cyber, or constitutional law — on a pro bono or low-cost basis. You do not need to take on the whole project. An hour of clear guidance on the questions below would move us forward. We are pre-revenue and building this in the public interest, not for profit.
The questions we are working through
- How to keep the platform fully lawful under India's IT and cyber-security rules while collecting no account, no name, and no IP address.
- How best to protect the anonymity of the people who report.
- The correct way to respond to any lawful request or takedown notice.
- The safest operating and governance structure for a public-interest project of this kind.
- Clear, accurate guidance we can give citizens about their rights — including the protection the law gives a person compelled to pay a bribe who reports it to the authorities in time.
We keep a short written brief setting these out in full. Email us and we will share it.
Not a lawyer?
We also welcome translators, developers, and anyone who wants to help more people find the site. The most useful thing most people can do is report an incident and ask their friends and family to do the same.
